      The Diagnostic Histopathology and Cytology sections which belongs to the laboratory divisions deals with Surgical and Cytological materials.

 

Histopathology and Cytology section at YADC comprises of state of art equipment as to aid quick and efficient reporting due to its rapid processing ability and capacity to handle good amount of load. This is precisely possible  because of double back up equipment  status at each stage, Viz; two tissue processors for rapid processing through  various chemicals followed by two tissue embedding units for block making and two highly sophisticated  micro-tomes  as to get the finest and thin sections. The Automated slide stainer and the automated cover slip mounting equipment further adds to rapidity. The Histopathological section has advanced grossing table with all latest features along with telephonic -- recording facility.

 

The department also entertains  Frozen section with two advanced Tissue-tek Cryostats  where in the  intraoperative  diagnosis  can be rendered  in  20 to 25 minutes  with the help of rapid  staining .

 

The Cytology section is equipped with two advanced   Cytofuges as to provide good material for all liquid specimens, besides PAP reporting.

 

Above all we have 9 experienced technicians and 4 staff doctors (Histopathologists & Cytologist) who will orchestrate all the events meticulously. The department is all ready to entertain the Routine H&E staining on Histopathology specimens and PAP with /or Giemsa staining on Cytology specimens.

 

A good number of initial panels of Immunohistochemical stains and special stains are available as ancillary methods to aid the Histopathology and Cytology diagnosis. A good communication is maintained between the two sections (Histopathology & Cytology) which allows thorough morphological examination of materials with high level of diagnostic accuracy.

 

The Histopathology and Cytology section would entertain a regular quality control activity and update program for technicians and doctors, who remain committed to best of their ability.
